Fri Sept. 9, 2005 like many Kerr students, the speech and debate students, got up at 6 am and left school at 12 to go to Deer Park High school. We did not get home until 12 am at night and after 4 hours sleep started the day on Saturday 6 am and came home at 10 pm. We were honored to compete against schools that were much bigger than ours, with student bodies of 1200 to 4500, while we were one of the smallest with 780 students. There 39 schools, and over 600 contestants. In the end it was honor and pride our team kept in participating.
The net result was that we brought home over 10 trophies, 4 first place, 1 second place, and 1 third place, and most important 2 state qualifications for the Texas Forensic tournaments. Over all Kerr brought home the second place trophy in sweepstake.
But more importantly, Kerr behaved with dignity and pride that the students were taught by their parents and teachers. We wish to thank the faculty and student body for helping and believing in us
